The cooling tower uses especially air as coolant for removing waste heat. The cooling tower has an absorber heat pump for removal of waste heat from power stations and industrial plant cooling systems and for feeding heat into remote heating network. Large quantities of waste heat at low temperature are converted without additional energy, except for the power plant, to useful heat at higher temperature. Power stations can be run with constant condenser temperature. The cooling tower acts as heat pump in the winter. The cooling tower is connected to an absorber heat pump in which the evaporator is heated by a fluid at medium temperature. The absorber supplies heat at higher temperatures and the condenser is cooled by the cooling tower at lower temperatures. |
