The laterally-aligned valve spindles each carry a circular plate. Each plate is edge contoured so that it meshes with adjacent plates in predetermined order. A stop in within a concentric slot limits plate and spindle rotation. Only one valve becomes operable at each 90 deg. rotation, when the pin moves to the other end of the slot. Interference pitched plates (11, 12) on respective valve (1, 2) spindles (9, 10) counter lock on concave arcs and against stop pins (15, 16) in the plate slots (17, 18). One locked valve (1) becomes unlocked after the other valve (2) is rotated. In a multi-valve alignment, each valve is controlled by the plates on either side. Edge contouring may undulate, combined with longer slotting, for two settings over a larger angular movement.
|
