1431538 Two-part couplings NORTHERN ELECTRIC CO Ltd 8 April 1974 [6 April 1973] 15395/74 Heading H2E A terminal block 10 (Fig. 1, not shown) comprises a plurality of recesses 11 arranged in rows 13 and columns (14) with a through hole 26 at the bottom of each recess, a separating bar 15 of outwardly tapering 17 section extending from the front face of the block between each two adjacent rows, and a respective terminal 50 in each recess extending through the hole and attached to the back face of the block. The block 10 is moulded with rectangular recesses whose side faces 20 blend smoothly to the tapering section of the bars. Each terminal 50 comprises a folded 51 strip of metal with rivet portions 54 and channel formations 53 which, in use, accept spade terminals The rivet portions 54 extend through the hole 26 where it is bent over to engage a conductor strip making an electric connection therewith and holding it against the back face; alternatively, the strip may be absent or replaced by a printed circuit board. Cylindrical portions 29 form enlargements of the bars and with the tapered 17 sections served to guide the spade contacts on insertion. Each recess and terminal 50 will accept two spade terminals. The rivet portions may be soldered to the strips 40. The block has mounting lugs (30, 31). |
