The shank end (4) of the rivet is splayed out sideways in order to form a tight joint. The rivet is fitted with a parallel parts of the shank (1) together with a head. The rivet has a circular covering (2) which is pressed downwards when the rivet is in position. A flat washer (6) rests on the upper surface of the material. The inner edge of the washer (9) forms a seal between the rivet and the hole in the material (6). The outer edge of the washer (8) is pressed under the rivet ring (2) to form a waterlight joint.
