<p>Cpds. of formula (I) (where X and Y are F, Cl, or Br; R1 is 1-5C alkyl; and R2 is H or CH3) are new. Cpds. (I) are partic. active against insects injurious to plants. They also show good activity against flies, e.g. Musca domestica, and mosquito larvae. (I) are used in combination with synergists or potentiators of pyrethroids, e.g. piperonyl butoxide or propynyl ethers. Specific (I) include alpha-methyl-3-phenoxybenzyl 2,2-dimethyl-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate, prepd. e.g. by reacting 2,2-dimethyl-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)cyclopropanecarboxylic acid chloride with 3-phenoxy-alpha-methylbenzyl alcohol in toluene in the presence of pyridine.</p> |
