<p>An arrangement for charging carbonising, esp. coke ovens, which ensuring there is no escape of smoke, dust, gas, etc. to cause pollution of the environment, includes a mechanism for removing and replacing the plug of the charging inlet together with a mobile channel connecting the loading hopper to the charging inlet. The installation comprises a charging cowl attached to the charging hopper, which is moved into position above the charging inlet, so as to prevent any contact between the charging inlet and the open air; the outlet through the loading hopper being blocked by the coal. The mechanism for lifting and replacing the charging inlet plug as well as the mobile trunk are arranged inside the charging cowl; the trunk moving inside the cowl from a position in which there is access for the mechanism to lift the charging inlet plug clear, to a second position where it connects the loading hopper to the charging inlet. All the operations necessary to charging from and including the lifting of the oven plug until it is replaced on its seat, are carried out inside a closed housing positioned over the charging inlet. Any escape of gas developing during loading and any access of air into the oven are thus prevented.</p> |
