Electronic signal veneer cutter fault identifier - with light signal scanners, counters and comparators controlling cutter release signal emitters

The electronic device on a veneer cutting machine recognises faults in a continuously moved veneer track. It has an optical electric device comprising a batten below the track with infra-red transmitters and the same number of receivers for light signals reflected from the track. Sensors are provided for periodic transmitter scanning, and others for counting signals. The number of reflected signals are compared with selected ideal values for the alloted track width extensions. a signal is emitted for cutter release when this value is attained or exceeded. This can be used on low-quality veneer tracks with high-speed feed.
