1459277 Stabilizing polyolefins AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 13 Sept 1974 [19 Oct 1973] 40129/74 Heading C3P [Also in Division C2] Polyolefins are stabilized against coppercatalysed thermal degradation by (1) a hindered phenol antixoidant and (2) an N,N<SP>1</SP>-bis-(naphthoyl)hydrazine. The polyolefin may be a polypropylene or polybutene. Examples describe the stabilization of ethylene/propylene copolymers with N,N<SP>1</SP>-bis(#-naphthoyl)hydrazine or N,N<SP>1</SP>-bis(α-naphthoyl)hydrazine and pentaerythrityl tetrakis-3-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate, 1,3,5-trimethyl-2,4,6- tris - (3,5 - di - t - butyl - 4 - hydroxybenzyl)- benzene, 1,3,5 - tris - (4 - t - butyl - 3 - hydroxy- 2,6 - dimethylbenzyl) - s - triazine - 2,4,6 - (1H,- 3H,5H)-trione or bis-(4-t-butyl-3-hydroxy-2,6- dimethylbenzyl)dithioterephthalate. |
