Supporting and reinforcing structure, esp. formwork in concreting, where considerable heights have to be attained, as in motorway bridge construction, requiring adaptation to peak loadings, usually involving a staged construction in sections. Two or more vertical load towers are involved, at an interval apart. Two such load towers (1) are connected by lattice cross girders (3), inserted into them horizontally, and they are braced against the ground. the lattice girders have vertical supports (7) detachably fastened to them, to them, to divert loading peaks between the towers. the towers and vertical supports may be adjustable for height by hydraulic or mechanical means. the width of the cross girders may be such that they can be thrust between the towers' own vertical supports (2). This is easily moved as required, and adapted to any vertical peak loading.
|
