<p>1419460 Injection moulding machines G LATTER 25 July 1973 [12 March 1973] 35525/73 Heading B5A The end portions of an injection assembly 14 can be arranged in any one of a plurality of positions which are spaced apart in a direction perpendicular to the axis of a mould clamping assembly 12. As shown, the injection assembly 14 is secured to the mould clamping assembly 12 by pivot means 60 and is supported at its other end by an adjustable single point support (see Fig. 5, not shown) or by a pair of rack and pinion assemblies 64, 66 secured to tie bars 66. These assemblies can be actuated through a rod 68 by a crank 70. The pivot means 60 enables the injection assembly 14 to be moved to the dotted line position seen in Fig. 1, and includes means 76, 78 to limit the range of pivotal movement. The pivot means comprises pivot members 72 rotatably mounted on cylindrical portions 88 of pivot blocks 80 which can be mounted at different heights in crossheads 74. The crossheads 74 are slidably mounted on tie bars 32, 34 upon which a movable mould platen 18 can slide. The platen 18 is moved by hydraulically operated toggle mechanism 24, 26 pivotally connected to a platen 19. The position of platen 19 on tie bars 32, 34 can be adjusted by rotating a drive sprocket (11) which is connected by an endless chain 10 to sprockets 21 threaded on to bars 32, 34 (see also Fig. 4, not shown).</p> |
