<p>A web folding devices comprises a feed conveyor from which the web is advanced by a selector surface (1) through a first nip between first and second rollers rotating in opposite direction. After the web has advanced a pre-determined distance through the first nip onto a support platform a folding arm acts on the web between the first nip and the platform and forms a fold which it forces into a second nip formed between the second roller and a third roller rotating in the opposite direction to the second roller. The line joining the centres of the second roller and the third roller forms an angle of 20-30 degrees (pref. 24 degrees) with the horizontal. The device folds webs quicker than devices using folding plates and eliminates manula operations.</p> |
