The milling cutter is especially for a copying machine and consists of a tool body with recesses for tool insert tips. Each tool tip has a support surface which is inclined at an angle (B) to the mean plane of the tool tips. A clamp with a corresponding inclined clamping surface (26) is bolted down against the tool in the socket. The support face and clamp together produce a groove. A clamping edge is formed on a projection 25) of the clamp (12), and the projection is arranged at the radially outer most end of the clamp. Alternatively, the tool tip may have a hole with inclined clamping surfaces for a side retainer stud.
