1312750 Amorphous polybutadiene INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE DES CARBURANTS ET LUBRIFIANTS 18 Nov 1971 [23 Nov 1970] 53670/71 Heading C3P 1,3-Butadiene is polymerized in the presence of a molybdenum halide or oxyhalide, e.g. MoCl 5 , a monoalkoxydialkylaluminium compound, e.g. (C 2 H 5 ) 2 AlOC 2 H 5 and an ester of a carboxylic acid which is inert with respect to the Al compound and in which the Mo compound is soluble, e.g. ethyl acetate, to give an amorphous polybutadiene containing 98 to 70% of 1,2-vinyl units and 2 to 30% of trans- 1,4-vinyl units and having a glass transition between -15 and -60‹ C. The butadiene may be supplied as a C 4 hydrocarbon cut from the steam-cracking of naphtha or the dehydrogenation of butanes and/or butenes. Alcohols, bases and antioxidants may be added to the reaction mixture when the desired conversion has been reached. The reaction may be homogeneous.
|
