Relief images are produced by a xerographic process by (a) forming a latent electrostatic image on a xerographic material, (b) contacting the material with a dry, fluid, intumescent electroscopic toner mixt. to develop the latent image, (c) transferring the toner image onto a transfer surface and (d) heating the transferred toner image to cause swelling of the toner and form a permanent relief image. In a variant the toner is also subjected to press. in step (d). The process is partic. used in the prodn. of Braille prints. The process cuts down the cost and time for producing a relief printed copy from 200 dollars and several hours in prior art to 5 US cents and 15 secs.
|
