Assembly of planks for vibration driven sheet piles - with planks fixed by steel channel sections at each end

The sheet piles are built up from thick planks (1) which are provided with interlocking dovetail grooves along their edges. The ends of the planks (1) are shaped to match the steel channel section (3) which has the edges of its flanges turned inwards. The channel section (3) is fixed to the planks (1) by tongues (4) formed by cutting slots (5) in the flanges of the channels. The tongue (4) are then driven into the wood to make a positive fixing. A tongue (4) may be driven into each plank (1) or one into alternate planks or in any other manner which may be found necessary.
