Elements of a heat exchanger are protected and bonded by insulating bodies comprising a flexible support (I) with non-adhesive layer (II) and on the opposite side of the support adhesive layer (III) capable of reacting and/or bonding with an expandable polymer which is in soln. The body is then able to bond with the elements. (II) may be coated with a foamable rubber and/or resin e.g. a polyurethane. (I) is esp. a polystyrene, polyamide or flexible polyethylene or polypropylene film, opt. laminated with a metal film on which is coated (II). (II) may be polyurethane, vinyl, silicone and/or metal contg. resins. (III) may be a metal contg. copolymer, vinylacetate maleic anhydride-, acrylic acid or ester or polyurethane resin and may be coated with a protective non-adhesive layer.
