Solid dye prepns for mass-colouring cellulose acetate - consisting of dispersion dyes mixed with cellulose acetate solns and dried

The prepns contain 40-60 wt.% cellulose 2 1/2 acetate, and 60-40 wt.% of a dispersion dye which is fairly soluble in acetone. They are made by dispersing the dye in a soln of cellulose acetate e.g. in a methanol/acetone mixt, and distilling off the solvent, pref. under vacuum. The prepns are suitable for mass colouring of cellulose 2 1/2 acetate, and combine the brilliance imparted by fully-soluble dyes with the fastness of pigments.
