<p>Appts. comprises a biological treatment tank provided with an inlet for sewage to be treated, an outlet for treated effluent and means for supplying aderating gas, a setting tank having at least the lower portion of inverted pyramidical form, the settling tank including an initial settling space sepd. from the major internal space of the tank by a baffle, the outlet from teh treatment tank leading to teh initial settling space which is sufficiently large for quiescent conditions to be obtd. during use of the appts. communication to the remainder of the settling tank being beneath the bafflef an arrangement for returning sepd. sludge from the bottom of the settling tank to the treatment tank; and an outlet from an upper portion of the settling tank and spaced from the baffle for purified effluent.</p> |
