PURPOSE:To absorb the backward elongation of an edge rolling reduction time and to prevent vibration, uneven wear, etc., by decelerating the feeding sped of a material by a transfer device according to the backward elongation of a material generated at the material edge rolling reduction time by a die. CONSTITUTION:When the elongation toward the upperstream side in a transfer direction is generated on a material 1 at an actual edge rolling reduction time, a load is acted in the same direction on a pinch roll 11 and in that case the load applied on a journal box 20 is detected by a load cell 22. The detection signal 22 thereof is converted into a digital signal by an A/D convertor 24, inputted to a comparator 28, compared with a set signal 25 and a comparison result 27 is inputted to an arithmetic device 31. The speed to drive a motor 29 is then operated corresponding to the comparison result 27 and the speed of the motor 29 is decelerated by a control signal 30. Consequently, the feeding speed V1 of the material 1 by the pinch roll 11 becomes slow, the backward elongation DELTAl of the material 1 is absorbed and the deflection of the pinch roll 11 by the backward elongation DELTAl is prevented. |
