Prostaglandin analogues of the formula <IMAGE> in which the substituents are defined in Claim 1, are prepared by selective oxidation of the OH group in corresponding PGF alpha or PGF beta compounds, resulting in the corresponding 11-oxo compounds. This compound is then isomerised to form 13,14-dihydro-12,13(E)-didehydro-PGD or 13,14-dihydro-12,13(E)-didehydro-9-PGD compounds and subsequently dehydrated. Another process is based on direct dehydration of the reaction product from stage 1. The resulting compounds can be used for the same purpose as known prostaglandins.
