<p>Smooth faced pipe ends are connected by an intermediate concentric sealing element (1) and clamping collars (3, 4) which have a locking system. The locking mechanism pull the connection axially and the seal is forced outwards against the outer walls of the pipe ends (9, 10). The collars slide telescopically inside one another, enclosing the seal. A helical spring (5) embedded in the seal (1) fits between the collars. Locking rods (8) supported by leaf springs are held in helical slots in the cover (3') of the inner collar.</p> |
