The rail grip for railway vehicles is used esp. for rail mounted cranes. The grip carries out combined movement and opening and ascending movements. The vehicle can be clamped readily also on crossings of tracks and on road and track crossing. The firm grip on the rails prevents accidents caused for example by sudden storms which tend to turn the vehicle over. The rail clamping grip has two jaw (1a, 1b) which are actuated by levers with cams (4) and pushers (5) for lifting and lowering. The clamping force is provided by a spring (3) which pushes the levers apart and the clamping jaws together.
