<p>Roll of paper condenser is impregnated only in areas endangered by voltage, pref. a part of end-layer to a few layers, and esp. edge-zone. Liq. impregnating agents are used, pref. silicone oil or chlorinated diphenyl. Di-electric foils may consist of paper, lacquer and/or plastic, pref. polypropylene. In a pref. condenser >=1 layer consists of paper and one of plastic. Partial impregnation increases breakdown voltage of condensers, esp. self-healing condensers. Condenser coatings may be used as metal foil, e.g., of Al or Sn, or they may be vapour-plated on one or both sides of dielectric, esp. so that the coatings are self-healing. The insulated carrier can act as dielectric.</p> |
