<p>A vehicle aerial for HF transmission or reception produces a signal even when there is mechanical damage. The rod aerial consists of a metal tube, made of a metal such as brass with a silver coating on the outside. The outer end of the tube is closed and the lower end fits into a cone shaped plastic base, which fits into flat surface of the vehicle. There is a looped wire along the inner surface of the closed tube, rigidly fixed at the top point. The free ends of the wire are connected to a low pass filter to protect connections from HF energy.</p> |
