The device for coating a screw with a sealing or safety medium, has a container with a centrally situated depression (2) cut into the bore of the container floor. The diameter of the depression (2) is just larger than that (Di) of the screw to be coated. A wiper or spreader device (3) is attached to the container and has a cylindrical aperture (8) which is concentric with the depression (2) in the container floor and has an inlet diameter (D2) which accommodates the screw to be coated with so restricted a degree of play that coating is prevented.
