<p>The slalom gate posts has a pointed base piece (1) on which is held an intermediate piece (2) for holding the gate post (3). The gate post (3) consists of an inflatable, closed tube. The base piece can be reinforced by ribs and has in the upper part (6) a threaded hole (7) for fixing the gate post (3) and/or the intermediate piece. The post can be fitted into the base by a screw in the base of the tube, or the intermediate piece (2) can be provided with a lip round its top edge which fits into a waist in the inflated post. To strengthen the post for use in high winds supple rods can be fitted round its outside or a spiral spring can be fitted over it. This method provides a post which cannot cause injury to a passing skier and is easily re-erected without removing the base piece from the ground.</p> |
