<p>1471939 Detoxifying blood BECTONDICKINSON & CO 24 May 1974 [2 July 1973] 23281/74 Heading C1C [Also in Division A5] A hemoperfusion assembly used in the detoxification of blood comprises a housing 10 having inlet and outlet openings adapted to be connected to a source of blood to be detoxified, a filter within the housing including a coiled sheet having adhesive means on at least one side, particles of adsorbent material having a size of up to 5000 microns being bonded thereto and said filter being mounted in a fixed position in the housing so that substantially no fragmentation of the particles occurs as a result of blood being passed therethrough. The particles are activated carbon, ion-exchange resins of dextran gel. The coiled sheet may be a plastic film or open web material. The coiled sheet is fixed in the housing with a potting epoxy resin and monofilament polyester filters are preferably fixed adjacent the inlet and outlet.</p> |
