Novel organotin compounds exhibit the general formula <IMAGE> where R and R1 are individually selected from the group consisting of C1 and C12 alkyl groups, cycloalkyl radicals and phenyl radicals; X is a group of the formula <IMAGE> <IMAGE> wherein R' is a hydrogen, C1 to C20 alkyl, cycloalkyl, or phenyl group; R'' is a C1 to C20 alkyl, phenyl, hydroxyphenyl, or methoxyphenyl group or the radical CH2COOR5, where R5 is an alkyl radical of 1 to 8 carbon atoms; R''' is R6 or is (CH2)n COOR6 where R6 is an alkyl radical of from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl or a phenyl radical, m is an integer from 3 to 7 and n is an integer from 1 to 4; R2 and R3 are selected from the same group as R; R4 is selected from the same group as R'; Y is selected from the same group of groups as X or exhibits a formula selected from the group consisting of S(CH2)nCOOR7, OOCCH=CHCOOR7 and OOCCH=CHCOSCH2COOR7 with the proviso that Y is <IMAGE> when X is <IMAGE> where R7 is an alkyl group of from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl or phenyl group or a radical of the formula <IMAGE>
