<p>1471027 Laminates SINTEF 13 May 1974 [15 May 1973] 21091/74 Heading B5A A method of manufacturing a braced insulating element B includes the steps of providing a plurality of rectangular mats 1 formed of a soft, yielding insulating material, e.g. mineral wool, stacking the mats in layers one above the other with intermediate coatings of a liquid curable plastics material 2 to form a first body, cutting the first body perpendicular to the layers along uniformly spaced parallel lines 5 into slices of a thickness h corresponding to the desired thickness of the element. In a preferred embodiment a coating of the plastics material is applied to one or more of the uncoated surfaces of the first body prior to cutting. The slices formed by the method of the invention may be stacked in layers one above the other with intermediate coatings of the plastics material (Fig. 3) to form a second body which is then cut along second uniformly spaced parallel lines perpendicular to the layers to form slices corresponding to the thickness of the desired elements.</p> |
