<p>The device described reveals traces of gases and vapours by contact with a platinum strainer sleeve (t) which is immersed in an appropriate electrolyte and surrounded by a tube which accentuates the gaseous bubbles in the liq. and depolarizes the electrode. A chemical absorber (F) in the tube stops gaseous components from interfering with the product analysed. Alternatively, a chromatographic column may be used to separate the various gaseous constituents. A calibration system is included to check the sensitivity of the battery during the operation. Sensitivity can vary with temperature or with usage of the reactive electrolyte.</p> |
