<p>The rib steel connections are for use in concrete for reinforced concrete track slabs in a railway permanent way superstructure without ballast, or elsewhere. This incorporates steel bars or ribs calibrated in steps. Here there is a thickened steel zone, relative to the dia of the next step downwards. The thickened zone consists of a groove embankment, thrown up by chisel scoring. Smooth bars or steel zones with grooves of this type, or thrown-up groove embankments, can be matched as step units, with any required variation in groove alignment. The continuous reinforcement can be protected with a sleeve and the non-rusting thread serration remains effective even if the working joint gap becomes more widely opened.</p> |
