1470156 Making battery electrodes SAFTSOC DES ACCUMULATEURS FIXES ET DE TRACTION 10 July 1975 [12 July 1974] 29151/75 Heading H1B In a process for cutting out electrodes for electrochemical cells from a strip of sintered Ni impregnated or coated with active material, except for one or more longitudinal strips, the electrodes are cut out, at an angle (e.g. 45 degrees) oblique to the longitudinal axis of the strip, to give a triangular corner which is used for connection to a terminal. An alkaline cell comprises a positive electrode 23 made by the method of the invention interposed between two negative electrodes 26 made by folding a strip in U-shape with an interposed U-shaped separator 25. Alternatively the negative electrodes and separators may be made of two separate parts. The assembly is mounted in a plastics lid 27 with a metal contact member 28 which is soldered to the corner 26 of the electrode 23. The electrolyte may be added or the separator pre-impregnated. A metal container 29 forms the negative electrode. |
