The pressing cutter is used for making small rectangular or wedge-shaped cuts into stacked sheet or film material. Each cutter has two cutting edges, and only one cutting operation is necessary. Materials cut include deep stacks of paper, cardboard and film. The cutter assembly consists of hollow cutters with a succession of cutting edges (8, 9, 10). These cutting edges are spaced laterally within the same assembly behind each other, so that the cutter with the narrowest spacing between the cutting edges contacts the stack first. Each subsequent cutter is spaced more widely. The minimum clearance between the cutting edges (9, 10) of the cutters (2, 3) and the adjacent cutter bodies (1, 2) ensures removal of the cut material. The throat formed between cutters is sufficient for the removal of cut material which is compressed by the inner cutter flanks and minimum gap.
