(Co)polymers are claimed which contain units of (meth)acrylates of formula (I) (where n = 0 or 1, X = (pref.) Br or (opt. (Cl and R = H or CH3. (Co)polymers of monomers (I) are useful flame retardant agents and polymers, esp. for incorporation into polymersters suchas polybutylene terepthalate, ABS, polycarbonates polyacetals and polyurethanes. Pref. (I) is a tetra(bromo, chloro)xylylenebis(meth) acrylate with 3-4 Br atoms and 0-1 Cl atmos, in which the methyleneacrylate gps. are o- m- or p- with respect to each other.
