Separator comprises a separatr unit with sepg. elements, to which a drive unit for driving the sepg. elements is coupled by a push-fit connection. There is opt. a control unit for the drive unit. The connection is pref. of the dovetailed, bayonet or hooked type, and pref. includes an actuatable locking member which prevents accidental release of the connection and which has an automatically operating notch with a locking spring which when actuated causes release of the notch. The spring is pref. inserted in a recess in the separator unit, and connected to an actuator which protrudes beyond the separator unit and which is combined with the notch to form a pivot lever.
