The plates that contain the water channels (3) are of a kind already in use in steam and hot-water central heating systems. They are half embedded in a casing of foamed resin or lightweight concrete (2); the face left exposed is painted black (4). The casing (2) is fitted with one, or preferably two, panes of glass (11, 12) in front of the water channels. Cross bars (15), between the water channels and the lower pane of glass (11), prevent the air circulation which would otherwise bring unwanted cooling; the bars are made of a good conductor of heat, e.g. cooper. Suitable water connections (7) and mortice-and-tenon connectors (16, 18) formed at the end of the casing, allow the units to be joined together into batteries.
|
