<p>A pneumatic sorting drum for feed of small components such as springs, has a feed opening one end, and a set of parallel grooves (10) around the inside. Air is blown into the drum through a set of holes (11) near the top, tangential to the grooves, so that the components are whirled round the interior, filling the grooves. Further air entry holes (14) are at the bottom. This has the effect of correctly aligning the components, so that they are then discharged tangentially through further holes (16) at the base. An impact surface (17) formed bya groove across the bottom, at right angles to the set of grooves, helps to align the components.</p> |
