The 2,6-dibromo-cineole may be treated with sodium acetate and acetic acid to give 2,6-dihydroxycineole acetate which may then be hydrolysed to give 2,6-dihydroxycineole. The reactions are illustrated in the following sequence Pharmaceutical compositions having choleretic activity comprise the 2,6-dibromo- or 2,6- dihydroxy-cineole, when prepared by the above processes, together with a suitable carrier or diluent. |
