PURPOSE:To eliminate the inscription of unnecessary character patterns, and to improve operability as compared with a conventional keyboard and to input more character patterns by displaying a necessary character pattern on each key. CONSTITUTION:Character pattern keys 110 and 210, etc., have display elements 111 and 211, etc., corresponding to respective patterns, and the respective display elements are connected to pressure processors 2,110 and 2,210, etc., through respective buses corresponding to the keys. The devices 2,110 and 2,210, etc., are connected to a processor 3,000 through bus transmission lines. The device 3,000 has a memory for specific patterns corresponding to the respective keys, and sends a specific pattern signal to the pressure processor of each key. Further, a composite pattern is displayed as one new pattern on a character pattern key with a pattern composition key 1z, etc. Thus, a necessary character pattern is displayed on each key to facilitate the operation, and many character patterns are inputted without increasing the number of keys.
