<p>1485831 Adjusting vehicle headlamps LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 28 Jan 1975 [6 Feb 1974] 05456/74 Heading F4R Changes in attitude of a vehicle are sensed by a lever 23 pivotally mounted at 24 on a suspended part 10 of the vehicle body, rotation of the lever about pivot 24 being harnessed to tilt the vehicle headlamps about a horizontal axis, and to compensate for spurious tilting which would arise from changes in ambient temperature, arm 25 of the lever is biased by spring 26 into engagement with movable output member 18 of temperature sensor 15 mounted on an unsuspended part of the vehicle body. As shown, the temperature sensor relies on expansion and contraction, permitted by bellows member 17, of fluid 22. The tilting means further comprises a transducer 30 fixed to body 10, the input rod 29 of which passes through a hole in short lever arm 28 and has a shock-absorbing stop means 34. The hydraulic output of transducer 30 is linked through pipe 31 to the hydraulic input of a second transducer (32) (Fig. 2, not shown) whose mechanical output is linked to the lamp mounting means.
