The charging device comprises reciprocable loading tray below a charging chute with a sand cup seal between the lower chute edge and the tray. The loading tray is supported so as to permit its swivel adjustment round a horizontal axis below the sand cup seal to alter its inclination. To the loading tray is swivel connected an adjustable length arm linking it to a crank wheel for generating its reciprocating movement, the tray being moved over rollers which are swivel adjusted simultaneously with it.
