1471130 Lubricating NEWAGE ENGS Ltd 14 May 1974 [15 May 1973] 23143/73 Headings F2A and F2D In a rotary power transmission mechanism including a pair of coaxially aligned shafts which are required to rotate relatively to one another and in which a spigot at an end of one is journalled in a bearing in a socket at an end of the other, the socket has an aperture extending through its side wall and a centrifugal oil thrower is provided on a further rotary member positioned to one side of the aligned shafts for delivering oil through the aperture to the bearing. In a variable-ratio gearbox as described in Specification 1,467,633, the primary shaft E formed with a socket Z to receive a tapered roller bearing for the spigotted end of a coaxial secondary shaft is apertured at Y by a milling cutter which forms a slot subtending an angle of approximately 120 degrees at the centre of the shaft. The centrifugal thrower is carried by the lay-shaft. To maintain the supply of lubricant when a sliding dog-clutch sleeve overlies the slot Y a corresponding slot is cut in the sleeve.
|
