1468877 Water-in-oil dyestuff or brightener emulsions NIPPON KAYAKU KK and KOMATSU SIEREN KK 25 April 1974 [25 April 1973 23 Aug 1973] 18244/74 Headings D1B and DIP Water-in-oil emulsions comprise (a) a disperse dye or optical brightening agent, (b) a hydrocarbon or a halogenated hydrocarbon, (c) a nonionic or amphoteric surface active agent and (d) water. Preferably the emulsion consists of 0.02% to 5% by weight of dye or brightening agent, 70% to 90% by weight of water, 6% to 60% by weight of hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon, and 0.05% to 7.5% of nonionic or amphoteric surface active agent. The emulsions are made by comminuting the dye or brightening agent with surface active agent in the hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon, followed by the addition of water or of a mixture of water and the hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon. The surface active agent may be selected from fatty acid esters of sorbitan and block polymers of polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol. Optionally halogenated hydrocarbons of boiling point in the range 60‹ to 180‹C are preferred, the viscosity of the emulsion being in the range two thousand to one hundred and sixty thousand centipoise. |
