Fertilizers contain >=1 pentacyanoferrate of formula (I): (where M is alkali(ne earth) or heavy metal or NH4 Ma Fe(CN)5X b (I) ion, or H; X is a gp. capable of occupying the 6 degrees coordination site on Fe; esp. NO,H2O,Co,NH3,N2H4,ASO2,SO3,NOCH3, or NO.S.C(=NH).NH2; a = 2-5; and b = 1-3). Compsns. are used for general feeding of plants and for curing or preventing trace nutrient deficiency. (I) are as effective as aminopolycarboxylic acid complexes but do not form toxic, water-soluble complexes with heavy metal ions such as Cl, Pb or Mg present in the soil. |
