<p>The fire-protective jacket consists of (A) braided asbestos heat insulation and (B) a glow-extinguishing agent applied to the asbestos in liquid form, or in the annular space between hose and braiding. Used esp. for hydraulic hoses carrying flammable fluids, e.G. oil or fuel. (B) forms a crystalline layer which is a highly effective heat shield, oxygen barrier and thermal conductor preventing local hot spots, which gives long term protection against heat and fire. (B) pref. consists of 5-10% glow extinguisher pref. borax, incorporated in a binder of natural chloroprene, nitrile or chlorosulphonated polyethylene rubber, which is subsequently vulcanised in the protective braiding.</p> |
