The rotary engine has a spherical housing (1) containing a spherical rotor (3). The spherical rotor (3) forms part of a Hooke's joint connected to two shafts (26, 27) inclined at an angle to each other. Two dished plates (6, 7) attached to the housing (1) enclose an annular space round the rotor (3). The rotor (3) carries a disc with curved faces (10, 23). As the rotor (3) rotates, it oscillates due to the inclination of the shafts (26, 27) which are connected by the Hooke's joint. The form of the curved faces is such that the space on each side of the discs undergoes a cyclic increase and decrease in volume.
|
