The computer or word processor has a main body (3) incorporating the operating keyboard (13) which is concealed during transport by a flat display panel (17). The panel is pivoted between the stowed position overlying the keyboard (13) and the operating position in which it is angled backwards at the rear of the keyboard (13). The operating voltage for the display panel (17) is provided via cooperating coupling elements incorporated in the hinge mounting, the latter allowing the display panel (17) to be released and fully removed in a further pivot position.
