The container and lid are for food stuffs, and consist of metal foil. It has a base, and side walls, each with an edge flange, which hooks under the edge rim of the cover. The surface of the foil for container and cover is finely embossed by unevenly curved closely neighbouring patterns, such as S-shapes, wavy lines or broken lines and hooks. The container walls may be corrugated to increase rigidity. The walls may also be concave.
