A wick (2) is inserted through the hole (13) in the bottom of the plant-pot (1) which has a conical body (12) and cylindrical collar-piece (11). The wick (2) may have rigid ends (21, 22) so that it is more easily pushed through the gap (12). The holder (3) for the pot consists of a strip of material which is adjusted to the size of the pot (1) by means of two press studs (31) at one end, and two rows of holes (32) at the same distance apart as the studs (31). A decorative holder covers the inner holder (3) and also consists of a flat strip with connections such as press-studs at one end. A slit parallel to the lengthwise edges has a fold extending from the ends of the slit at right angles to the edge. The part between the two folds canbe bent convexly outwards, or concavely inwards, to form a pouring inlet (44). The outer and inner holders stand in a saucer containing water.
