The fluorescent safety lamp is for use in mines and other localities where there is a danger of explosion. It can be separated completely from its power supply when it requires replacing. The fluorescent tube (3) is located inside a first housing (2) and the power supply is enclosed inside a second completely separate housing (1). The supply is transformed from the first to the second housing by a split transformer (4) whose primary (5) is in the second housing and secondary (6) in the first. The two windings are inductively coupled through holes in the adjacent walls (7, 8) of the two housings. The housings can therefore be easily separated. |
